TOWN OF ALMIRA - PUBLIC NOTICES - 3/31/2002 UTILITY BILLING

Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday March 30, 2002. Ages Preschool to 4th grade, beginning at 1pm, location: vacant lots 6th and Maple.

Annual Community Yard Sale will be Saturday April 20th 9am Sign up sheet at city hall, deadline is Friday April 12th to have your address placed in the classified ads. Payment of $7.00 for all advertising will also be due by April 12th.

Almira Fire Department will sell Cinnamon Rolls/Coffee starting at 8:30 am, burgers & german sausages at 10:00 am, both at the community center on April 20th, community yard sale day.

Lions Club Salmon BBQ will be held Sunday, April 28th at the Community Center Noon to 4 pm. Tickets in advance cost $10.00, or $12.00 at the door. Children 12 and under cost $6.00. Tickets will also be available on Sat. April 20th.

Community Clean Up. The Town Council has hired the Lions Club to facilitate these services, and a date has been set for Saturday May 4. Those who have regular garbage service need to contact Jim Bafus 639-2431 during the day or Russ Felker 641-0718 in the evening to make arrangements for a pick up from your CURBSIDE ONLY. Jim and Russ will answer any questions you might have about what types of garbage will be allowed and will come assess your disposal fee in advance of the pick up. No liquids or hazardous material will be accepted. Miscellaneous items and metals must be separated. An equivalent of $5.00 of standard garbage will take up a 1/3rd portion of a one ton truck and/or used toward disposal of any of the following items: dismounted tires cars $1.91, truck 6.91, 17.50 tractor; burn barrels 8.16; refrigerators and air conditioners w/o compressors $21.91; and other appliances $11.25. Any amount of refuse in excess of $5.00 will be paid directly to the Lions Club. If you are unable to use the service, you can arrange to contribute your equivalent for a neighbor by contacting Jim, Russ, or City Hall.

Almira Seeds of Change Spring Social. Dinner, Entertainment, and Door Prizes on Saturday, May 11. Dinner will be served 6 - 8:00 pm, Cost $15.00 for adults and $10.00 children under the age of 10. Tickets, as well as Bluebird boxes, will be available April 20th at various yard sale locations.

Junk Vehicles. Property owners should contact Sonny Vaughn 633-1704. If you do not have the registration, contact city hall to file for a lost title.

Recycling Aluminum Cans: 5th grade collects to raise money for their trip to Olympia, more information at city hall.

Water Conservation. Continuing schedule from last year: Ordinance 305 was ordered active and effective June 2001. A map will be posted in the city hall window and at the post office to show the designated watering days. Basically: everyone North of Main are odd days, South of Main and West of 5th are also odd days; East of 5th and South of Main are even days. A per occurrence fine may be issued following one written warning.

Residential Burning: In effort to avoid closure and to retain burning privileges at the yard waste site, residential burning in the Spring and Fall has been repealed, and is furthermore prohibited.

Annual Drinking Water Quality Report will be updated to reflect testing results from 2001 and will be posted in the City Hall window by May 31st. Copies can be picked up at City Hall, emailed upon request: townhall@televar.com, or viewed on our webpage: www.town.almira.wa.us/ccr.html
