CEMETERY

  1. Lots purchases can be made at City Hall. $350.00/lot (16 lots within each New Section Block)

  2. The funeral home generally contacts City Hall regarding funerals, and handles necessary arrangements.
    Fee for a burial is $375.00, and $110.00 for a cremation. There are additional fees for Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays.

  3. The City maintains the grounds and administration with some funding provided by the interest earned on the   Cemetery Endowment account.

TOWN UTILITY SERVICE
(Water, Sewer, and Garbage)

If you need water turned on or off, contact the City Superintendent at 639-2221, or call City Hall and leave a message. 5 days advance notice is required, and someone must be present at the location when the water is turned on. Water meters and shut off valves are the property of the Town of Almira and are to be handled only by the Towns personnel.

CONNECTION FOR WATER AND SEWER
New dwellings are required to hook-up to the Towns system. A charge of $500.00 plus any additional costs shall be made prior to service connection. The cost of making connections with the Towns main, laying of the pipes within private property line, and any necessary street pavement replacements will be paid by the consumer or property owner. This service is done under the supervision of the Town.

SERVICE DEPOSIT
A deposit of $100.00 is required from each new customer . This is fully refunded or transferred to the account balance after one year of payments without three pink slips being received. Accounts that turn delinquent will also require a deposit payment upon the 3rd pink slip.

GARBAGE SERVICE
Pick up is every Wednesday morning. If there is a conflict on a Holiday, signs will be posted for an alternate day that week. You will be given a colored sticker from City Hall to be placed on one of your cans set out for pick up. Garbage pick up is mandatory for all residence and commercial businesses that have water service on. Yard waste is prohibited, along with any hazardous materials. Garbage cans must have lids, 2 handles, weigh less than 70 lbs. and not exceed 32 gallon size container, or 5' in length. You are allowed one extra can per month for a fee of $2.00, sticker is available at City Hall. Other excess or odd size garbage can be taken at your own expense to Delano, Hartline, or Davenport.

BILLING INFORMATION
Utilities are billed at the end of each month, and are due on the 10th of the following month. A $10.00 late penalty will be assessed on the 25th of the each month to accounts with an outstanding balance. A shut off notice will be sent with utility bill if the account remains to be unpaid on the last working day of the month. Water that is shut off will only be reinstated after the account balance is paid in full, along with a $25.00 reinstatement fee, and full amount of a service deposit again to be retained.

Unoccupied rates are available to homes that are not occupied for 2 or more weeks in a month and have the water service shut off. The water and sewer can be prorated accordingly, garbage service will only be billed in full calendar month increments.

WATER STAND PIPE
Located in the alley between City Hall and the City Shop. A key is available from City Hall. Water will be charged at a rate of $3.90 per 1,000 gallons.
